Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I join?
The Pennsylvania Society of Professional Women stands apart with its stringent admittance and application process, guaranteeing a community of individuals united by shared goals and values, thus fostering a genuine and purposeful social and networking environment. As a member, you're not only welcomed into a supportive community but also granted exclusive access to a variety of social engagements throughout the year. These events not only offer opportunities to connect with likeminded women but also provide enriching experiences that enhance both personal and professional growth. Moreover, many of our gatherings feature complimentary gift bags, activities, and other perks, adding an extra layer of enjoyment and value to each occasion.
Do I have to meet a certain criteria to join?
We welcome everyone, from all walks of life, and do not discriminate against race, economic background, or income. The only requirement to join is to be a woman over the age of 21 years old, some form of post-secondary education, held a professional job (current or past), and agree to our 5 virtue pillars.
Do you consider sales reps as business members?
At the heart of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Women lies a genuine commitment to fostering authentic connections and facilitating personal and professional growth. Unlike other platforms, our primary aim isn't to serve as a marketplace for selling products or services. Instead, we strive to create a supportive community where women can engage in meaningful social interactions, exchange valuable professional insights, and embark on journeys of continuous learning and advancement. While we welcome sales representatives, we prioritize businesses that align with our mission of empowering individuals. We believe in the power of collaboration and collective betterment.
I am retired, can I still join?
We accept women from all timelines of their life and offer a social program for retired women called The Legacy Circle, where we celebrate the wisdom, strength, and evolving journey of mature women navigating life beyond the hustle of earlier seasons.
I am a Stay At Home Mom, can I still join?
Leaving the professional workforce to care for children is not a disqualifying factor for membership. Professionalism is a state of mind rather than a job title, and we recognize that being a mother is one of the hardest jobs there is for a woman with limited community. Once a professional and now a SAHM are welcome to join us.
How can I be involved in the committee?
We are always looking for volunteers to be our social lead for our events. These roles are open to Society Members only. We need organizers for our special interest group meetups: We are always looking for volunteers to assist and lead our social events: Mommy Meetup, Mom's Night Out, Ladies Happy Hour, Legacy Circle (Age 55+), StrongHer Together (Fitness Focus), and The Brunch Society.
What does "The Society" do exactly for social meetings?
Our socials include meetups for happy hour, ladies night out, professional workshops, weekend lunches, wellness and fitness meetups, Mom lunches, family events, dinner outings, couple's outings; Mommy Meetup, Mom's Night Out, Ladies Happy Hour, Legacy Circle (Age 55+), StrongHer Together (Fitness Meetups), and The Brunch Society.
